Installation and Deployment of Syncfusion Report Server version 4.1

This section explains on how to install and deploy the Syncfusion Report Server version 4.1 along with the User Management Server.

Download Report Server

  • You can download the Report Server setup here.
  • Licensed customers can download the report from the downloads section.

The key to unlock the setup will be sent to your registered email address.

Hardware and software requirements

Before installing the Reporting Server in your business environment, review the hardware and software requirements to install the Reporting Server.

Install your Report Server

To install the Report Server, follow these steps:

  1. Run the Report Server Installer and type in the credentials of your Syncfusion account to unlock the setup. Instal with Syncfusion Email account

  2. You can alternatively type in the unlock key that has been sent to your registered e-mail address to unlock the setup by selecting the Use Unlock Key option. Installation with product unlock key

  3. You can check the License Agreement of Report Server by clicking on the License Terms and Conditions.

  4. After you read the license agreement, click on Next to select the installation server type, location and the port number on where the Report server and User Management Server has to be hosted.

We have provided the Report Server and User Management Server to be hosted into the following two web server types

  1. IIS Express
  2. IIS

IIS Express

  1. You can provide the port number or leave with default port number given in the installer. Installation Location and IIS Port Changes

  2. To add desktop shortcuts and start menu shortcut, you can check the options in the Additional Settings. Otherwise, uncheck the options.

  3. After you select the web server type, click on Next.

  4. Install User Management Server option will host the User Management Server in mentioned port number.

    Installation User Management Server IIS Express

  5. To add UMS desktop shortcuts and UMS start menu shortcut, you can check the options in the Additional Settings. Otherwise, uncheck the options.

  6. After you select the web server type, click on Next then navigate to OData ODBC installation section.

IIS

  1. Need to provide the Port number, Location and Site Name to host the Report Server and User Management Server into the IIS. Installation Location, IIS Port Changes and Site Name

  2. To add desktop shortcuts and start menu shortcut, you can check the options in the Additional Settings. Otherwise, uncheck the options.

  3. Allow firewall for selected ports option will allow the selected port of the Report Server in firewall to make it accessible outside the installed machine.

  4. After you select the installation server type, click on Next.

  5. Install User Management Server option will host the User Management Server in mentioned port number.

  6. To add UMS desktop shortcuts and UMS start menu shortcut, you can check the options in the Additional Settings. Otherwise, uncheck the options.

  8. After you select the installation server type, click on Next then navigate to OData ODBC installation section.

OData ODBC installation

  1. To install the OData ODBC driver setup to use OData ODBC, check the Install OData ODBC setup. Otherwise, you can uncheck it and install the OData ODBC Setup later. OData ODBC installation

  2. After completing the installation, you can start the Report Server by checking the Start Report Server and click Finish. Start Report Server

  3. Or you can also start the Report Server from the shortcuts available in the desktop.

    Report Server does not support multiple versions installed on the same machine and it cannot be downgraded to the previous version.

Silent installation

You can install the Syncfusion Report Server silently with the following steps:

  1. Double-click the Syncfusion Report Server setup.

  2. Syncfusion Report Server setup will be extracted in temp location (%temp%). Silent installation setup temp location

  3. Copy the extracted Report Server setup to some other location and cancel the installation.

  4. Open the command prompt with administrative privileges and run the extracted Report Server setup with the following arguments.

Arguments:

IIS Express /Install silent /InstallPath:{InstallationPath} /pidkey:{unlock_key} /portno:{port_no} /servertype:{server_type} /isdesktopshortcut:{TRUE or FALSE} /isstartmenushortcut:{TRUE or FALSE} /Log “{LogFilePath\filename.log}”

Example: /Install silent /InstallPath:C:\Program Files (x86)\New\Report Server /pidkey:@1243453sdffdfvv /portno:54321 /servertype:IISExpress /isdesktopshortcut:TRUE /isstartmenushortcut:FALSE /Log “C:\Program Files (x86)\New\Install.log”

Report Server silent installation

Now, Syncfusion Report Server has been installed in silent mode.

Deployment

  • Report Server web application opens in your default browser with the specified port number given during at the time of installation at http://localhost:[Report_server_port_number]/

  • User Management Server web application opens in your default browser with the specified port number given during at the time of installation at http://localhost:[user_management_server_port_number]/
